SBP: The state bank of Pakistan has announced that there will be no new ‘eidi’ notes releasing this year on Eid Ul Fitr due to the spread of the coronavirus.
The State Bank of Pakistan released new notes on every Eid as per tradition as people prefer giving children and others ‘eidi’ in the form of new crisp banknotes. The demand for new bank notes is very high on Eid.
This makes it the second year in a row that no new currency notes will be issued on Eid as the same measure was taken in respect to COVID-19 last year. The government of Pakistan has encouraged people not to celebrate Eid as grandly as they usually do because of the imminent peak of the dangerous third wave of COVID-19.
