What happened: 24News reported that the Punjab Police Department has bought vehicles worth 930 million rupees for operational purposes. The publication quoted the details of the vehicles acquired as follows: “ The vehicles include buses, Elite Force vans, Special Protection Unit (SPU), and three APVs.” Details: On the other hand, reports suggest that the Punjab Police did not buy larger cars, including Land Cruisers. It is pertinent to mention that the Lahore police were previously allowed to buy bulletproof cars to take part in the sensitive operations, and the “Government of Punjab had approved the procurement of 35 vehicles for the Elite Force and the Counter-Terrorism Department.” Previously: It was earlier reported that there are only two vehicles in each of the police stations across Pakistan, and the recent purchase was made to curtail this issue.
