New Zealand will now start taxing cows for their burps, but why?

What happened:  New Zealand, in a bid to counter climate change has announced to impose taxes on cows’ burps. WebMD quotes,  “A draft proposal in New Zealand aims to address methane emissions linked to global warming, one cow and sheep burp at a time.”  It is pertinent to mention that if taxation is allowed in the country, New Zealand will become the first to charge farmers for the methane emissions from their livestock.  Details:  At the same time, New Zealand’s Climate Change Minister is quoted by BBC News,  “There is no question that we need to cut the amount of methane we are putting into the atmosphere; an effective emissions pricing system for agriculture will play a key part in how we achieve that.”  In a bid to counter the deteriorating global climate change emergency, New Zealand has announced this, as it is being quoted,  “country’s past inaction to address the agricultural sector’s hand in global warming.”
