Former Prime Minister and PML-N head Nawaz Sharif is set to leave the city today via an air ambulance at 10am. He will be accompanied by his brother Shahbaz Sharif and his personal physician Doctor Adnan.
According to sources, the rented ambulance arrived at Jati Umrah at 8:45am. PML-N spokesperson, Marryium Aurangzeb, said that Nawaz Sharif’s doctors conducted a medical test on him this morning and further criticised the government by stating that had he left the country 15 days earlier as planned, his medical treatment would have begun by now. Aurangzeb further added that while Nawaz and Shahbaz are away, PML-N leadership will be handled by senior party officials. She also detailed that the air ambulance contains an ICU and fully functional operational theatre. The Interior Minister has released a memorandum allowing the former PM to leave the country on a ‘one-time permission’ for four weeks on medical grounds. Immigration forces have confirmed that Sharif’s name will remain on the Exit Control List despite this allowance. They further elaborated that as this leave was permitted by the court, he would need to provide court documents in order to get past immigration officials at Allama Iqbal International Airport.
