What happened: The local police June 15 arrested a rickshaw driver after it was alleged that he was involved in the rape of a teenage girl from Muzzafargarh’s Mubarak Pur area. In conversation with local reporters, the District Police Officer of Muzaffargarh, Tariq Wilayat, claimed that the incident’s FIR was registered at Khangarh police station, after which the police took prompt action. Details: Th FIR was registered on behalf of the teenage girl’s stepfather under Section 376(punishment for rape) of the Pakistan Penal Code. Dawn quotes the incident: “ Muhammad Ijaz told the police that his stepdaughter, who is around 16 years old, left her maternal grandmother’s house in Qingqi rickshaw, for his house around 1 pm on Tuesday.” However, after all the passengers were let out of the rickshaw, he lured the commute to a deserted place.
