Musharraf Treason: Special Court Not Bound To Accept IHC Reservation Of Verdict

Share

A special court in Islamabad claimed it was not bound to accept the decision by the Islamabad High Court to reserve the verdict of the Musharraf treason case.

After hearing the petitions filed by Musharraf and the government, the high court halted the special court from announcing the verdict instructing to hear all sides in the case in order to ensure the trail is fair.

However, today a three member bench of the special court headed by Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Waqar Ahmed Seth claimed that the special court is not bound to obey the IHC, rather, they can only listen to the directive’s from the Supreme Court.

Justice Waqar further remarked that the bench will not comment on the order of the IHC. He did allow Musharraf to record his statement on December 5th, though.

The special court announced on November 19th that a verdict in the case would be announced on November 28th before they were stopped from doing so by the IHC.
