Mob assaults police woman trying to enforce ban on Jummah prayers in Karachi

A mob of men violently attacked a police woman in Karachi at the Jamia Masjid Haqqani in Orangi Town when she went to arrest citizens who were violating the rules of the lockdown. Sindh’s police is facing backlash from the public in trying to enforce a ban on congregational prayers, put into effect by the government to curb the spread of Covid-19. Last Friday, reports of worshippers entering mosques in throngs emerged from the province. Today, Sharafat, a sub inspector at the Sindh Police active force duty was assaulted by men violating the lockdown, as seen in the video. The mosque in Orangi Town has been defying lockdown instructions repeatedly and called hundreds of men in congregation for the Friday prayers.
