LWMC places 6000 new waste containers to efficiently clean-up Lahore

What happened : Dr. Yasmin Rahid in her tweet revealed that The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has procured 6000 new waste containers to place across the city. The first consignment of 950 containers were delivered to Data Gunj Bakhsh Town (DGBT). Details : Dr. Yasmin Rashid appreciated LWMC for providing 6000 garbage containers to the nine towns of the Lahore city. She stated that LWMC identifies the problem of waste collection has devised a deployment plan of these new containers to improve cleanliness across the city. Around three thousand employees have been recruited to carry out the plan.

Initially, 8000 containers had been placed in the city for the disposal of waste out of which currently 3000 were available in the field. After placement of new 6000 waste containers, the disposal of garbage will be more easy and efficient. The problem of garbage collections has been becoming increasingly grave and complaints from several areas about the problems were being reported to LWMC. Hence, Minister said that a special committee has been formed to ensure cleanliness. She added, “Cleanliness of Lahore is being ensured by all concerned agencies including WASA, PHA and LDA.” She concluded with an appeal to the citizens of Lahore to throw garbage in LWMC containers instead of throwing it on the streets.
