Loadshedding continues as Pakistan faces up to 12-hours of unannounced load shedding

What happened: The country’s power crisis has continued for June as 12 hours of unannounced load shedding have been reported in different areas of Pakistan. The overall demand for electricity in Pakistan has also peaked as ARY quotes, “Power plants in the country are facing a shortage of oil, gas, and coal.” Details: After coming to the office, Shehbaz Sharif announced that no load shedding in the country would occur, though it has been proven otherwise. Whereas, LESCO is facing a power shortfall of 1500 MW after the demand went up to 5300 MW, the power division is quoted by the publication as, “Lahore is facing unannounced load shedding between 8 to 12 hours. The DISCOs have refused to share load shedding timing, further complicating consumers’ matters.” More: On the other hand, Tribune has quoted as, “The frequent outages have made the day-to-day life of the public miserable as mercury soars in the peak summer months.” However, the load shedding in Pakistan is said to be due to the difference in supply in demand, but the Pakistanis have called for prompt action on the matter.
