Lahore sub-inspector killed as he tried to prevent suspect from escaping

What happened: On Apr 18, a police sub-inspector named Suleman died on his way to the hospital after he was tortured for attempting to stop a suspect from fleeing who lost his bail plea in the Lahore High Court. Details: The bail petition of suspect Hussnain Ali in a case filed against him under Section 406 of the Pakistan Penal Code in Narowal district was denied by Justice Waheed Khan of the LHC. After losing his bail, the suspect attempted to flee the but Sub-Inspector Muhammad Suleman, 50, attempted to apprehend him but was reportedly assaulted by the suspect and his lawyer.  What you need to know: According to a status shared by lawyer Khadija Siddiqui, the bystanders didn’t intervene and watched as Suleman was beaten by sticks. Suleman pleaded for the perpetrators to stop as he cried that he’s a sugar and heart patient. As this happened within the premises of the court, Siddiqui states: “No uproar, no media coverage, no condemnation? Time to hang our heads in shame.”
