What happened: On Apr 1, the Federal Investigation Agency’s Cyber Crime Cell arrested a gang in Lahore that was allegedly making money from the “dark web” through child pornography. Details: The four-member gang, which included a woman, Arsalan, Ammad, Moazam and Talha, were making money (in dollars) by selling movies. Suspects from a private housing society in the Punjab capital’s outskirts would entice victims with money or other methods, rape them, and film the entire incident. According to the FIA, the suspects extorted money from the victims and sexually assaulted them by threatening to go viral with their obscene tapes if they refused. The complaint: After receiving a complaint, the FIA Cyber Wing in Lahore was notified. The complainant, a victim’s father, claimed that the suspects, Arslan Arshad and Ammad Shahzad, residents of a private housing society, were responsible for the crime. The accused suspects have been booked by the FIA Cyber Crime Cell in Lahore under Sections 20, 21, and 22 of the Prevention of Electronic Crime Act (PECA) 2016 and Section 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
