Karachi Kings: The most hyped up team of HBL PSL 2020

Share

Karachi Kings is one of the most followed and supported franchises of HBL PSL, due to the fact that it represents the largest and most diverse city of Pakistan. This team also possesses the most prominent sponsorship, having Bahria Town and PIA on board. In spite of the biggest fan base, huge sponsorship and most celebrity endorsement, something just goes wrong for the Kings every PSL season. They did not have a successful season one, but they showed up with a bang in following seasons, reaching up to the play-offs and qualifiers. In spite of a decent performance and a balanced squad, having the renowned international stars, they still fail to reach the final every year. This time round, they have the most balanced team with Dean Jones and Wasim Akram as their coaches. Hence it is to be seen what impact does Deano create on the Kings squad and will they break the jinx this year or fail again.

Karachi Kings are ready to set off into another journey to glory.

Karachi Kings have never been the worst team to play at PSL, but they haven’t been the best either. Despite their performance, they have had the largest fan base out of all the PSL teams, mainly because they belong to the largest city of the country and have the most popular bowler in the world, Muhammad Amir.

Karachi Kings were knocked out of the eliminator in 2019 by the merciless Islamabad United who won by 4 wickets with 3 balls remaining.

Karachi Kings were left disappointed again.

In every PSL season, Karachi Kings have had a very promising start but fail to measure up. Even in last year’s season, their first match against Lahore Qalandars was an exquisite win, with outstanding performances.

The Karachi Kings still remain one of the favourites to win the league, all because of the undisputed bowler, Muhammad Amir. But Amir is not alone in this fight, other star players like Babar Azam, Imad Wasim and Alex Hales will embark on this journey with him.

The team also boasts players like Iftikhar Ahmad, Chris Jordan, Sharjeel Khan and Cameron Delport, along with emerging stars like Umer Khan and Arshad Iqbal.

Here is a line-up of the Karachi Kings Squad for PSL 5

The bowling coach and president of Karachi Kings, Wasim Akram is confident that his bowlers will give a tough time to the opponents in the upcoming fifth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Akram, while talking in a show on PSL’s official youtube channel said, “Teams win in the T20 format with bowlers and Kings is having all the ingredients to be a potent bowling attack”.

“I think we have a strong bowling attack with the likes of Mohammad Amir, Chris Jordan, Amir Yamin, Liam Plunkett, Usama Mir, and young Umer Khan,” he said. “Jordan and Amir can bowl some aggressively in death overs while we have good wicket-taking options in Umer Khan, Amir Yamin, and Plunkett. Our skipper Imad Wasim is also an all-rounder so he is a plus point for us in bowling,” added the former cricketer.

The lead coach Dean Jones asked his opponents to get ready as the Kings are coming to roar in the mega event.

“I am Dean Jones, ‘Ustad of Cricket’ and I am the head coach of Karachi Kings, its time for the Kings to reach the top because the Kings are born to rule the game. ‘Toh Hojao Tayyar’,” he said.

Anyone who is even briefly equipped with any cricketing information, knows that this squad deserves to win, but only time will tell the fate of the Karachi Kings.
