An activist, a mother, a teacher, and a role model, Dr Yasmin Rashid has relentlessly worked for the welfare of the people and lived a life of dignity.
Lahore’s popular burger joint, Johnny and Jugnu, recently launched a campaign centring around Dr. Yasmin Rashid, lauding her courage and bravery especially in the current pandemic situation, dubbing her the Iron Lady of Punjab.
The wholesome campaign saw many Pakistani artists illustrate how they perceived Dr. Yasmin Rashid, making colourful iterations of her service to the nation. J&J also interviewed Dr. Yasmin Rashid, shedding more light on her life before she was in the public eye. In the interview she revealed that while her mother was at Kind Edward Medical College, Dr Yasmin was raised by her paternal grandparents in their village.
If there is one message young girls can take away from Dr. Yasmin, its that she never gave up on what she believed in and she stood her ground in all hardships.
Dr. Yasmin is an all rounder in the truest sense, she has been an all-rounder; playing table tennis for Pakistan, getting an education during a conservative time, and much more. From a young age, she considered herself an activist and devoted herself to Pakistan. Even after working abroad and being given many opportunities there, she made it her mission to work in Pakistan, for the betterment and prosperity of her people.
We asked J&J why they worked on this campaign specifically and they said they started it to honour her resilience, dedication, and intelligence. “She has always aimed to instil the mindset in our youth, that it is us, who have to serve and save this country. She encourages taking education as a learning experience and using it for the good of those around us. Whether it’s from passing on the knowledge, or by bringing about change for our country. The guidance she gives us is to stand with those who are in need of help and to keep our humanity alive at all times,” added the team while talking about the campaign.
In celebration of her admirable work and inspiring lifestyle, Johnny & Jugnu even came out with a merchandise line to pay tribute to her.
The proceeds from the merchandise go to the Thalassaemia Society of Pakistan. To learn more about the merchandise, visit J&J’s Instagram page here.
Here’s to more years of hope and diligence.
