ISPR announces promotion of 12 major generals to the rank of lieutenant

Details: On October 11, in a significant shake-up of the top brass ahead of the change in command at the end of next month, the army announced the promotion of 12 major generals to the rank of lieutenant general.  Who are the promoted generals: According to ISPR, the promoted generals are Major General Inam Haider Malik, Major General Fayyaz Hussain Shah, Major General Nauman Zakria, Major General Mohammad Zafar Iqbal, Major General Ayman Bilal Safdar, Major General Ahsan Gulrez, Major General Syed Aamer Raza, Major General Shahid Imtiaz, Major General Mohammad Munir Afsar, and Major General Babar Iftikhar. Why it matters: It is unusual to see so many people promoted to the position of lieutenant general at once. Although these elevations are typically supposed to be done on the basis of vacancies, the promotions in the Army had been overdue for about a year.
