Islamabad to get its first ever women’s university

What happened: On the 2nd of December, National Assembly’s panel has approved the  “Islamabad Women University Bill, 2021.”  This bill will help establish the first-ever women’s university in Islamabad. Pakistan Tehrekee-e-Insaaf’s MNA Ali Nawaz Awan had initiated the bill requesting a different university for the women. Subsequently, the MNA had said that a women’s university in Islamabad is a must as the higher education of women is of great importance to the country.  Details: Ali Nawaz Awan further claimed that the females who cannot pursue their higher education due to cultural or religious reasons will be able to get an education at the 1st women’s university in Islamabad. At the same time, he said that this initiative would allow the government to provide equal access to education further. Islamabad’s first women’s university would also have separate sports science and media studies departments.
