“I was pleasantly surprised by this new place that recently opened up in Mall one Lahore. Umami Patisserie. They have such a hugeeee variety of desserts and it’s really refreshing to see a purely quality dessert focused place with reasonable prices in the Lahore market. Ps. My personal favorites were the cookies and cream brownie, lemon drop cookie cups and cinnamon glazed donuts.” – Raffai Sethi

“Happened to try this new place that opened its doors in Mall 1 last week. Honestly never seen a more visually appealing patisserie in Pakistan. Existing bake shops and outlets can learn alot about the significance of layout, color choice, and ambiance on one’s brand value. Simply lovely. Onto the items themselves. Remember the bakeshop boom last year? No retail bakeshop can come close to the variety and depth they offer. From cinnamon rolls, artisan donuts to innovative goodies like a cookie based lemon/caramel tart (who knew that tart bases could pack such a flavorful punch when made from cookie dough). Even though the cakes and sundae cups are reminiscent of another popular bakeshop chain, the flavor portfolio is more expensive. Cookies and brownies pack such a different note than the traditional cakey fudgy mess that we have been accustomed to. Very high end and I thought the retail prices would be somewhat overpriced given the location. Actually I had to look at the menu twice to confirm if I hadn’t misread it. Imperatively, their rates are on par with the existing bakeshops but the taste is noticeably superior. I would go as far as to say that their products are even superior to majority home based artisans. Don’t know how they’ve managed to pull off the same recipes with an extra touch of finesse. Everyone strives to perfect the art of value for money however after trying out a huge chunk of all things sweet this country has to offer i would say that they’ve managed to nail it. For anyone looking to satiate their cheat day cravings in 1 box i would recommend the following items as the primary go to:

  • Either choice of a Lemon/banana nut cinnamon roll
  • Lotus/ dark choc filled donut (just get the 2 together if you really want to pack on the calories because they are exceptionally good)
  • Spiced caramel truffle brownie (wait for the cardamom punch) or the lotus or peanut butter brownie
  • Get the dark choc or triple choc cookie (both are vastly superior value compared to the chunkier offerings elsewhere)
  • Absolutely go for the Lemon drop cookie cup and Walnut tart
  • Sundaes, cupcakes and other additions at your discretion since you probably will already be stuffed to the brim.”

“My first ever review. Visited this newly opened patisserie shop “Umami” near mall one. Read about it on foodies R us today. It was so good. Taste was so good and the perfect amount of meetha used. Three milk sundae cups were better than layers and cinnamon rolls were scrumptious and on top very very economical. Got almost 21 items and the bill was just 3000. They offered the introductory discount as well on already very low prices. Everything is pocket friendly from 150-250 only. I was a bit late, their off timing is 1130. I went in around 1140 and they switched on the lights again which is actually a very good gesture from the staff which we don’t usually see in Pakistan. Highly recommended.” – Bilal Shahid

“Alright, so after reading massive reviews for Umami patisserie, we thought of digging in right away!! As it was late so they were out of most of the flavors, the staff was super courteous and did their best to encourage us to try their specials as what we were looking for were sold out! Now for getting lots of stuff in 3k…It’s a dream dosto!! Na tou koi off mila!! Coz as per staff discount tou owners daitay hain na hi mazay k flavors. By the time I was getting in my car tab one of the staff members came rushing with a complimentary slice stating ma’am apko apki marzi k flavors nahi milay, isliye… Good gesture from their part no doubt! Rest, prices are less tbh as compared to other earties. But the quantity is also less if some bloggers are comparing it with layers. In short good luck to the new venture and with the hype please keep a note to stock up on flavors too!!” -Rida e Zahra

“I went to Umami pattestrie the day before yesterday. It’s near a mall one near mocca cafe. The setup is amazing to be honest. I went around 9:30 pm and they had most things in stock.  I tried the original cinnamon roll that was the best, then three milk sundaes. I had it chilled and it tasted great. Also, the salted caramel cup didn’t like that at all and the chocolate walnut tart that too was good. The best part is prices. They are sooo economical. Must try. And please open a new branch too. Sorry I have no pictures as my husband doesn’t like to click photos of food photos which we eat then.” – Fareeha Moazzam

“New player in town!  Just saw this really aesthetic cotton candy coloured board reading “UMAMI PATISSERIE” next to Sashas and thought to try it. They had just inaugurated last week Tried the following: 1) Cinnamon Rolls: 10/10 THE BEST IN LAHORE HANDS DOWN. A real treat for those who are not a fan of overly sweet desserts all over Lahore. My personal favorites were the Original and Lemon flavors with Chocolate right after. PS warm them before having them and you’d be craving for more as soon as you are done  2) Nutella Filled Donuts: 9.5/10 Really fluffy and scrumptious donut with a generous filling. The best part is the price of it. Getting an artisan donut for the price of regular commercial donuts was a treat for sure. Priced at 240, in terms of value for money, I’d rank it the best in Lahore. 3) Dark chocolate center cookie: 9.5/10  Don’t let its look intimidate you. It’s not actually “karwa”. But if you are looking for a sweet chocolate cookie, this specific flavor isn’t the one for you. This one had a rich chocolate flavor with just the right amount of sugar. Was moist and chewy at the same time. Again, warm it before having it for the best taste 4) Salted caramel cookie: 7.5/10 Now this is where it might come down to individual taste because I am very particular when it comes to salted caramel (as it is my favorite flavor and rarely can anyone do it just right). At times, I’d get some granules in my mouth which wasn’t what I was expecting (could be sugar or salt). The cookie was still moist and chewy but maybe the items I had already tried raised the bar a bit too high for it Also, on my visit they were letting customers taste their Honey Cake which was DIVINE. If only they served individual cake slices, I would’ve definitely grabbed a couple of those. My only suggestion for the management is to make sure that the items in the trays are placed such that the customers can easily see it without having to bend down.” – Abdullah Sami
