Pakistani officials have been accused of attempting to cover up an outbreak of the most dangerous polio strain and trying to contain it with a covert vaccination programme According to The Guardian, the P2 strain that had previously been eliminated from the country recently infected a dozen children, resulting in paralysis of those under age five. It is alleged that the new cases were kept hidden from the government and international donors. These cases were mostly discovered in Diamer district, with one coming from Islamabad. It is the law to report all polio cases to the government and international health bodies. “To hide their negligence and their poor performance, Babar Bin Atta decided not disclose the cases to anyone,” said a source. Babar Bin Atta had been the polio eradication representative before being removed from his position as he was accused of corruption. He also allegedly hid the cases from the government and UK’s Department for International Development. Read more from ProperGaanda: Taliban flag spotted at Azadi March
