Investigation report blames India for rising air pollution levels in Lahore

What happened: Bahauddin Zakariya and NUST University’s joint investigation report revealed that India is responsible for the rising air pollution levels of the provincial capital. The joint-investigation report suggests that the polluted air is coming from India, resulting in toxic smog in Lahore. It is pertinent to mention that the report claimed,  “City’s air was not clear for a single day during 2020 therefore the number of asthma and heart patients increased.” Details: At the same time, the Pakistani authorities have taken up the matter with India but still awaits a response. Subsequently, Lahore was ranked as one globally for the most polluted city, globally as the AQI crossed 700 and the air was deemed breathable. What else: On the other hand, a report by Dawn stated,  “India is not responsible for Punjab’s smog. Poor fuel quality, not crop burning in India, is the villain in the battle for clean air.”  At the same time, the report added,  “Lahore is ultimately left at the mercy of weather conditions to decide if the air will be unhealthy or hazardous.”
