Indian officials meet Taliban representatives in a “quiet meeting” in Doha

What happened: Indian officials have held discussions with Taliban representatives in order to safeguard Indian investments in Afghanistan. Details: The Indian media reports that this is the first time a senior Qatari official has confirmed that a meeting took place between the two sides. Billions of dollars have been invested in Afghanistan by India to become a key-player in Afghan politics.

“India has to be realistic. It has to come to terms with the reality that Taliban have an upper hand and they might actually come to power. Obviously New Delhi would want to protect its investments,” Ajit Singh, a New Delhi-based security analyst, told  TRT World .
