India refused visas to Pakistani pilgrims enroute to Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti’s Dargah in Ajmer

What happened: On Feb 2, India denied visas to Pakistani pilgrims at the eleventh hour, preventing them from visiting the traditional Urs of Khawaja Moinuddin Chishti in Ajmer from Feb 3 to Feb 14. Details: The Indian embassy directed the ministry to complete all the preparations for pilgrims’ departure to the Urs, while adhering to all the operating standards. Pilgrims from all over the country arrived in Lahore where they were then refused visas at the last moment, damaging their feelings and putting them through mental distress. The ministry: Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Pir Noorul Haq Qadri expressed his displeasure at the non-issuance of visas to religious visitors, which he described as “beyond comprehension.”  What’s next: Qadri stated that Pakistan will raise the issue of ill-treatment of Zaireen with India at the level of the foreign ministry, adding that based on the pretext of the coronavirus pandemic, India violated the 1974 Pakistan-India Protocol on Visits to Religious Shrines.
