What happened: Punjab has seen a rise in road accidents and linked injuries and fatalities, as eight people were reported dead and 962 injured in 914 road accidents in all the 377 districts of Punjab on May 25. TheNews quoted the report of road accidents as, “577 people were seriously injured who were shifted to different hospitals…” Details: An analytical view of the road accidents were also provided by TheNews’ report revealing, “450 drivers were involved, 27 underage drivers, 104 pedestrians, and 388 passengers were among the victims of road crashes.” Lahore remained among the top city as it reported 239 road accidents affecting nearly 240 commuters, while Faisalabad was 2nd with 80 road accidents involving 85 victims. More: The stats quoted by TheNews also showed that 807 motorbikes, 82 auto-rickshaws, 74 motorcars, 22 vans, 11 buses and 17 trucks were involved in the road accidents. However, a trend has been seen of a rise in road accidents, especially in Lahore.
