In a bid to empower women, Pakistan launches ‘National Gender Policy’

What happened: On March 8, the Ministry of Planning launched the framework for the National Gender Policy. This initiative aims to empower women across Pakistan and create a gender-inclusive environment. The National Gender Policy aims to provide equal opportunities to the different segments of society, especially women. Details: At the same time, the planning minister, Asad Umar, is quoted by a local publication as,  “Women’s participation in the public sphere was an important goal, and it should be addressed in a systematic way rather than on wishes.”  WAP Business Standard quotes the development as,  “The framework is intended to help prosper and progress the women of the country.”  More:   Asad Umar also highlighted the importance of gender equality in Pakistan and said,  “If a person does not feel protected, then he/she cannot work to the best of their potential.”  Whereas, highlighting the importance of women in a country, the minister added,  “Our country cannot progress unless the women are educated.”
