What happened: Pakistan’s prime minister, Imran Khan, has ordered an inquiry against a senior joint secretary of the Cabinet Division. Reportedly, the senior secretary had made objectionable remarks against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf, on a social media platform. Hammad Shamimi posted a comment in Urdu on a social media platform against PTI violating the Civil Servants Efficiency and Discipline Rules, 2020.

Details: Hammad Shamimi had commented against PTI, and his comment read, “A similarity between the PTI and the Taliban is that both are figuring out how to run the government…” Adding to his statement, Hammad claimed that both the governments started figuring it out after they came into power. Hammad Shamimi concluded his comment with, “And the centre of hope for both of them is Aabpara.” Imran Khan: The Establishment Division has started an inquiry against Hammad Shamimi after the comments were read. At the same time, they have ordered to complete the investigation within sixty days. Further instructing, “Inquiry officer must submit a probe report to the Authority within seven days of the completion of the inquiry with clear findings.”
