Imaan Mazari receives pre-arrest bail in ‘Army defamation case’ 

What happened: An FIR was filed against Imaan Mazari at Islamabad’s Ramna police station, as it was alleged,  “She abused and defamed the senior command of the Pakistan Army.”  The FIR included clauses of Section 505  inciting people against armed forces  and 138  abetments of the act of insubordination by a soldier .  Details: Whereas, Dawn quoted the FIR as,  “FIR against lawyer said that her statements led to ridicule and created hatred within the Pakistan Army, while also causing unrest within the institution which is also leading to the punishable offence.”  What’s happening now: The lawyer representing Imaan Mazari is also quoted by Dawn as,  “Her client was being made a victim of ulterior motives and highhandedness of the complainant and others, who are highly influential.”  However, the Islamabad High Court has now granted activist and lawyer Imaan Zainab Mazari pre-arrest bail till June 9.
