What happened: On February 4, in a bid to express solidarity with the Kashmiris, the Senate’s session was chaired by a Hindu lawmaker from Pakistan Peoples Party, Krishna Kumari. The PPP lawmaker was welcomed with open arms by the Members of the Upper House and Faisal Javed Khan tweeted, “A Hindu presiding Senate Session on Kashmir in Pakistan. Chairman Senate asks our colleague Krishna Kumari Kohli to do the honour.”
Details: In March 2018, Krishna Kumari Kohli became the first-ever Hindu Dalit woman to be elected in the upper house of Pakistan’s Senate. Subsequently, Dawn quoted, “Senator Krishna Kumari Kohli chaired today’s session and was welcomed by the loud thumping of desks as she sat on the chair’s seat.”
More: On February 4, the resolution was passed in Senate, which paid tribute to the heroism of Kashmiris. Dawn quoted the resolution as, “We demand India revoke the step, calling it a gross violation of all United Nations resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir.”
