Govt rejected projects to develop sacred Hindu temple visited by millions annually

What Happened : Senator Danesh Kumar of the ruling Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) has criticized federal government for rejecting all schemes for the development of Hinglaj Mata Temple that is visited by thousands of devotees every year from across the world. Details: Shrouded in a mountain cave, Hinglaj Mata Temple is on the bank of cascading River Hingol near Lasbela, Balochistan. It is the main temple of Hinglaj Mata, a very powerful Hindu deity, believed to bestow good to all her devotees. Senator Kumar said that it was one of four important religious temples in the world for Hindu devotees. Every year, thousands of Hindus travel across Pakistan to join others from India, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Bangladesh to take part in the three-day piligrimage to to the Temple. Indian leader Jaswant Singh, also visited this temple as the sitting foreign minister of India in 2006.

The three-day pilgrimage held every year in the month of April  to the temple in western Baluchistan province concluded this year safely.

 Senator Danesh Kumar criticized the federal government for rejecting all schemes he had suggested for development of the historical temple located in Lasbela district. In his interview with dawn news on Sunday, he said that Hinglaj Mata Temple holds great important in view of the religious tourism. He also stated he submitted dozens of development schemes to facilitate devotees who visited the temple every year but all the schemes and suggestions were rejected by the federal governmen. “Not a single penny was allocated by Islamabad for development of this important religious place,” Senator Kumar said. Appreciating the Balochistan government, he reported that they allocated Rs300 million for development Hinglaj Mata temple. He said that this huge amount is meant to be spent on providing maximum facilities to visitors and construction of roads and other development work. He said the temple was ignored in the past, but the present provincial government had spent more than Rs1 billion on development of the temple and promoting tourism in the area.
