Government alerted declares emergency after rising rape cases: Punjab 

What happened:  In the wake of rising rape cases in the 2nd biggest province of Pakistan, the Punjab government has imposed an emergency to deal with child abusers and rapists. During a press briefing, Punjab’s Home Minister Ata Tarar said,  “Punjab govt had decided to declare an emergency to deal with such cases.”  Details:  As the rise in rape and sexual assault cases has become a concern for the citizens, it needs prompt action. Ata Ullah Tarrar, during the press briefing at the central office of PMLN, said,  “Four to five cases of rape are being reported daily in Punjab due to which the government is considering special measures to deal with sexual assault, harassment, abuse and coercion cases.”  What you need to know:  Ata Tarar further briefed,  “We have a Cabinet Committee on Rape and Law and Order to review all cases.”  At the same time, he stated,  “Civil society, women’s rights organizations, teachers and lawyers will be consulted.”  Whereas, a prompt awareness campaign would also be initiated in Punjab.
