Skirmishes between protesters and the Frontier Corps personnel left eight people injured in Sadda town of Kurram tribal district on Saturday.
What Happened: According to officials, a mob attacked the offices of the district administration in the town, located some 20 kilometers east of Parachinar, the district headquarters of Kurram. The protesters pelted the office with pebbles, in response to which the law enforcers opened fire. Haji Saifullah, a local elder, said the protesters were heading towards the main bazaar when the Frontier Corps personnel started firing to halt them at the checkpoint. This injured eight people, leaving three in critical condition, who were shifted to the Combined Military Hospital in Thall garrison. What Next: A curfew has been imposed in the Sadda town with cell phone signals and internet services suspended, although the main highway has been kept open for heavy and light traffic. Meanwhile, negotiations between the administrative officials and parliamentarians are in progress to restore order in the area.
