What happened: A French woman of Pakistani origin, Asma Ashraf, received the National Order of Merit for her hard work in the education sector and for her social welfare services for the French society. Details: Asma Ashraf, in an interview, revealed that the French Government recognised her efforts as the founder of Femme Relais Mediatrice Interculturelle de Champigny, a platform that provides counselling to women. It is pertinent to mention that Asma Ashraf is the only Pakistani origin woman to receive the award.
