“First time in history” female officer Ayesha Gul appointed as AIG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

What happened: Ayesha Gul, who hails from Kyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Swabi city, has become the first female from the province to be appointed as Assistant Inspector General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police. It is pertinent to mention that Ayesha Gul had previously served in the Islamabad Traffic Police and now serves as the AIG gender Equality KP police. Details: Express Tribune quotes the development as,  “The police officer who is posted in Peshawar, said that as AIG Gender Equality, she would work towards the protection of the rights of women, transgender persons and children.”  At the same time, Ayesha Gul made history by becoming the first woman in the KP Police force to achieve the number two rank as she was appointed AIG by Inspector General Police KP Moazzam Jahan Ansari.  What else: It is pertinent to mention that earlier in 2021, the first woman was appointed as the DPO in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Sonia Samroz became the DPO for Lower Chitral. Whereas, nearly 1.8% of the entire police force in Pakistan consist of female officers.
