Islamabad: The past one year has been very busy for the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). In the span of 12 months FIA recovered Rs 7 billion.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Accountability Shahzad Akbar while conducting a press conference said PML N’s Marriyum Aurangzeb questioned the government’s asset recovery unit (ARU).

“Marriyum asked about what the ARU had done to bring back looted wealth which was stashed abroad,” he said. “Critics need to understand how the ARU works.”

He explained how opposition is raising voice against the recovery of government land. Akbar talked about the people who have been in power for the last 35 years have illegally occupied government land.

While talking about the progress of his department he said “The FIA has recovered Rs7 billion in the past one year.”

He talked about how people other than former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif are corrupt too from the party. Akbar commended the current government by saying “Those who were in power before us did not bother answering questions,” he said. “Even Marriyum said that this government is quick to give a response.”

“Marriyum should stop misleading the nation with false claims” he said while talking about Anti-Corruption Punjab had recovered land worth Rs129 billion. He said that the government had spent Rs10.3 million on the ARU.

He went on to say how the previous government used cash boys for money laundering. “Who were Masroor Anwar and Shoaib cash boys?” he asked.
