What happened: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (KPK), provincial health department has announced that Pakistani expatriate workers who are stuck in Pakistan and unable to travel abroad to their duty stations can now be given Moderna COVID-19 vaccine starting Monday. Many have been unable to get back to their country of work because of shortage of acceptable vaccines in Pakistan. Details: There were protests at vaccination centers in the province as workers expressed frustration at being unable to go back to their jobs abroad. KPK has received 50,000 doses of Moderna Vaccine which will be administered to only those seeking to go abroad for their jobs.
“We have received 50,000 doses of Moderna vaccines from the US as part of Covax programme which will be administered exclusively to the people wishing to rejoin their duty stations in foreign countries,” the officials said.
