The majorly Hindu nation has reportedly seen a rise in forms of discrimination against Muslims ever since the right-wing BJP came into power. An annual report on religious freedom issued by the US State Department proves this, saying Hindu groups used “violence, intimidation, and harassment” against Muslims and other castes. Furthermore, India recently promised to conduct a nationwide sweep of illegal foreigners present in the country, after emphasising that Indian citizenship would be considered for and given to all Hindu, Sikh, Jain, and Buddhist refugees- Muslims were not promised the same grace.
