John Brennan, former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) chief has claimed that Israel was instrumental in helping the U.S locate Osama Bin Laden. The former leader of the Al-Qaeda was killed in his Abbottabad compound, in a joint US military-CIA operation in 2011.
Brennan stated, in an interview with Haaretz, that the intelligence Israel provided helped the U.S locate Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan. He said that the U.S had been gathering intelligence on the Al-Qaeda leader for years “and the thousands of bits of pieces of intelligence do include some which were provided by the Israelis as a result of their intelligence operations”.
U.S navy seals flew in from Afghanistan and killed Osama Bin Laden in his Abbottabad compound on the 2nd of May, 2011.
Prime Minister Imran Khan said, in 2019, that the Pakistani Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) provided the US with a lead that helped them find and kill the al-Qaeda leader. Regarding the issue the premier also said “We in Pakistan always felt that we were an ally of the US and if we had been given the information about Osama Bin Laden, we should have taken him out.”.
