Eid holidays announced from May 10 to 15 along with Covid-19 restrictions

The interior ministry has announced Eidul Fitr holidays in the country from May 10 to 15 on National Command and Operation’s recommendation. Last week, the NCOC announced a ‘Stay home, stay safe’ strategy from May 8 to May 16 to control the movement of people as the country sees its third coronavirus wave. NCOC’s statement: “All markets, businesses and shops will remain closed, except essential services such as grocery stores, medical stores, hospitals, vaccination centres, vegetable, fruit and meat shops, bakeries, petrol pumps, food takeaways and media houses.”

Guidelines:

  • All bazaars will be banned on Chaand Raat along with a total ban on tourism for locals and foreigners.
  • Public parts, shopping malls, hotels and restaurants at picnic places and tourist resorts will remain closed during Eid holidays.
  • Interprovincial, intercity and intra-city public transport will be banned.
  • Private vehicles, taxies, cabs and rickshaws will have to operate at 50 per cent occupancy during the holidays.
  • The govt. has advised electronic media to run movies, dramas and shows to keep people entertained at home.
