What happened: Dua Zehra’s father, Mehdi Ali Kazmi has filed a complaint with the Sindh High Court. In a petition filed through his lawyer, the petitioner requested that SSP East, SHO Al-Falah, and the investigating officer be directed to recover Dua Zehra. Back story: On April 16, at 12:30 p.m., Kazmi’s wife informed him that their daughter Dua Zehra had gone missing.” He went to the Al-Falah police station and filed an abduction report against unknown people. The petitioner learned about Zaheer Ahmed’s marriage to Dua Zahra through social media. Dua Zehra was 14 years old when she married, according to her birth certificate. The Child Marriage Restriction Act of 2013 makes underage marriage illegal. Dua Zahra is 13 years old, according to NADRA records. “She should be recovered, and a meeting with her parents should be scheduled. Age should be determined by DNA tests ,” Mehdi Ali Kazmi argued. The case: In the matter of Dua Zehra’s alleged kidnapping, the investigating officer has filed an interim challan with the court. The matter was heard in Karachi City Court in front of Judicial Magistrate East. The case was filed with an interim challan that includes provisions for underage marriage abetment. Nikahkhwa Ghulam Mustafa, Zaheer Ahmed, and Nikah witnesses Shehzad and Asghar Ali have all been deemed absconders in the case. The case also includes provisions from the Sindh Child Marriages Restraint Act.
