What happened: On May 6, police arrested the driver who hit PTI leader, Dr Shahbaz Gill’s car on a highway, ruling out allegations of a “planned attempt to target” him. According to the police, the car was rented out by the owner, Tahir Nazeer, to a resident of Muridke named Wajahat Ali, who was driving the vehicle. Details: Wajahat told the police that he stopped first but fled in fear when he saw Gill get out of the car. Police says the incident occurred due to Wajahat negligence, and there was no intent to harm Shahbaz Gill, “Gill attempted to portray the incident as a murder attempt and engaged in propaganda. After questioning the driver and investigating the crash site, it is possible to conclude that it was an accident,” they added. More: The Muridke police department also stated that Wajahat Ali was turned over to Hafizabad police for further investigation due to jurisdictional issues.
