What happened: team of doctors from the Khyber Teaching Hospital in Peshawar and data scientists developed a painless insulin delivery device with the help of transdermal patches. Subsequently, it has been reported that the team led by Dr. Talha Durrani claims that if the patches are produced on a larger scale, it has the capacity to replace the traditional injections used to inject insulin into the human body.
Details: It is pertinent to mention that only the prototype of the insulin patch system has been introduced and has passed the initial bench testing, whereas it is undergoing further laboratory tests. At the same time, ProPakistani reported, “The team has already filed for a patent and is also working closely with academics in England.”
More: Whereas, the team that introduced the insulin patches system includes Prof Dennis Douroumis from England, Dr. Anam, Dr. Mian Ayaz ul Haq. Subsequently, one of the doctors from the team is quoted as, “Our aim is to develop medical devices and dosage forms that are friendly to children and improve medication adherence.”
