What happened: On February 18, a 5 year old Afghan boy died after he was found trapped in a well for three days. The minor was identified as, Haider and had slipped to the bottom of a well in Southern Afghanistan’s village Shokak. It is pertinent to mention that Shokak is located in a drought-ravaged province 400 kilometers away from Kabul. Al Jazeera reported, “Rescuers worked non-stop to save the boy, including by digging an open slit trench…”
Details: However, after a struggle of three days, a senior adviser to the Taliban-run interior ministry of Afghanistan was quoted by Al Jazeera, “With great sorrow, young Haidar is separated from us forever.” On the other hand, the local police had also said that the digging process was facing hindrance from the rocks located in the well.
More: Whereas, Haidar’s grandfather had alleged, “Haidar fell down the well when he was trying to help the adults dig a new borehole in the village.” Reportedly, Haidar was rescued from the well and was being taken to the helicopter for further medical treatment, but “When the medical team tried to carry him to the helicopter, he lost his life.”
