Death of a pregnant woman in Dadu results in FIR against doctors

Son claims that due to the negligence of the doctors his mother died and that is why he’s lodged a FIR against civil surgeon, additional civil surgeon and in-charge of gynecological ward at Dadu Civil Hospital.   The police booked all three doctors on charges of delaying operation of a pregnant woman on Sunday 22nd December 2019. The FIR has been lodged against civil surgeon Dr Abdul Hameed Meerani, additional civil surgeon Dr Ghulam Hussain Panhwar and in-charge of gynecology Dr Sughra Mallah after receiving orders from district and session judge.   Son of the dead woman, Raheem Chandio had complained to the court that his mother Rani Chandio had died due to criminal negligence of doctors. In the FIR he claims that he brought his mother to the gynecological ward on Dec 5 and the staff told him that Dr Sughra Mallah who was not present at that time would conduct delivery.   He added on that they kept his mother in the hospital for the night without giving her any medicine for the pain and when in the morning the doctor did arrive, she told him to take his mother to a private center. He said that when he told her that he was poor and couldn’t afford the expenses for a private hospital, she gave him a referral for Hyderabad. However, during all this time no doctor looked after the condition of his mother and when time came to set out for Hyderabad, the hospital refused them free ambulance service.   He said that when he created a ruckus, they allowed him the ambulance only on condition that he’d pay for the fuel. However, too much time had gone by in all this hustle that it proved fatal for his mother’s condition. His mother died on her second night in the hospital on Dec 6th, 2019.  The doctors, on the other hand, portray an entirely different story. According to the civil surgeon Meerani administration and doctors had treated Rani Chandio properly. In fact, Rani Chandio’s family had brought her in a very serious condition.   Meerani said that She was checked properly by a lady doctor on her arrival and it was found she suffered from acute deficiency of blood but there was no one who could donate her blood in emergency. She apparently also had a high fever.   In the aftermath, Sindh Mallah Forum led by Mohammad Nawaz Meerani, Dr Abdul Kareem Meerani and Ali Murtaza took out a rally in support of the civil surgeon and demanded the cancellation of FIR against doctors.
