Counter Terrorism Department Punjab: The CDC Punjab is set to take action against the banned outfit TLP’s numerous financers across the country.
The TLP was banned on April 15th after violent crashes across the country during nationwide protests by the outfit. The party was banned by the Interior Ministry under the anti terrorism ordinance.
The financers: According to sources, the TLP has around 300+ financers, mostly from the financial hubs of Lahore, Karachi, Gujranwala and Faisalabad. These ‘big’ financers include industrialists, traders and businessmen. According to the anti terrorism act, any financing of a banned outfit, specially one that is under the anti-terrorism act is illegal. The CTD is running a cross check of all the bank accounts of these financiers, and is also in process to check the international financiers of the TLP.
Reasons: Law enforcement agencies have been probed to check the financial records of the banned outfit, as they were surprised by the uninterrupted supply of food, material and resources to the party’s workers during the nationwide protests amid partial lockdowns. It is said that various CTD teams have been formed to arrange for the arrest of these individual ‘big’ financers, as they have attempted to make a mockery of the law.
