Crimes against Muslims: Pakistani worker shot in the head in Greece

What happened: Express Tribune and Gulf Today reported that a 26-year-old Pakistani worker was shot dead in Athens  in a suspected hate crime.  Express Tribune quotes an anti-racism group of Athens Keerfa group as,  “Ali Riaz, 26, had been repeatedly fired at bypassing taxi driver in central Athens as he and other Muslims were returning from Eid prayers.”  Details: This incident took place days before a trial started against an alleged criminal organisation in Greece,  Golden Dawn,  as the group is accused of murdering a Greek anti-racism rapper and torturing other nationals. Whereas, it is pertinent to mention that the United Nations report states an increase in Islamophobic incidents around the world. Subsequently, UNHRC has suggested that governments and international organisations should do more to combat Islamophobia.
