What happened: Noor Mukadam’s case hearing was scheduled for the 22nd of December after a delay on the 15th; however, the case was again delayed as Zahir Jaffer’s lawyer Sikander Zulqarnain was not present. Shaukat Mukadam had to give his statement in court on the 22nd of December, but Therapy Works lawyer Akram Sheikh had stated that without his presence, Noor Mukadam’s father should not be recorded. Details: According to the Twitter account run by Noor Mukadam’s friends @justicefor_noor, “Zahir Jaffer’s lawyer Sikandar Zulqarnain and Therapy Works lawyer Akram Qureshi did not come for the proceeding today.” The Twitter thread further added, “Due to these reasons the statement was not recorded and the insanity plea was not discussed.” However, the next court proceeding is scheduled for the 5th of January 2022. What else: Earlier on the 17th of December, the Islamabad High Court had said that the Noor Mukadam case would be concluded by the end of January. It is pertinent to mention here that Zahir Jaffer’s lawyer had requested the court to form a medical board for Zahir’s checkup as they claimed that Zahir was not mentally sound.
