Chinese man reunites with family with the help from a map drawn from memory

What happened: Li Jingwei was four years old when he was sold to a family by the Chinese traffickers and after 33 years, he drew a map from his memory which eventually helped him to reunite with the family. On December 24, Li Jingwei posted the picture of the hand-drawn match and China’s version of TikTok users helped him find his biological family’s house. Details: Li Jingwei was taken nearly 1000 miles away from his home in Zhaotong to Henan. However, after posting the image of the mind-drawn hand map, the Chinese police helped him to locate the family. On New Year’s eve, Li Jingwei was reunited with his family after the DNA samples of the two matched. Li’s father had was no longer alive, but he was reunited with his mother.

Also: After reuniting with his mother, Li Jingwei is quoted by BCC saying,  “Thrity-three years of waiting, countless nights of yearning, and finally a map hand-drawn from memory, this is the moment of perfect release after 13 days.”  Li Jingwei was abducted near the south-western city in Yunnan province and was sold to a family in Guangdong province. He also captioned the hand-drawn by writing,  “This is a map of my home area that I have drawn from memory.”
