Bilawal Bhutto and Shah Mehmood Qureshi head-on in a series of punchlines in NA

What Happened: Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Shah Mehmood Qureshi exchanged sidesplitting personal digs in the National Assembly on Wednesday. The debate escalated into an outburst after Bilawal Bhutto alleged Shah Mehmood Qureshi of collaborating and campaigning to become the Prime Minister of Pakistan instead of Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani.

Bilawal’s sneering accustion:

Bilawal Bhutto accused Shah Mehmood Qureshi, the present foreign minister of Pakistan, of conspiring against the then sitting Prime Minister Gillani during the government of PPP. He alleged that Qureshi also sought assistance from foreign leaders to annex the role of premier from Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani. Bilawal Bhutto further claimed that it was due to these conspiracies that Qureshi was kicked out from the party. Bilawal Bhutto alleged that Qureshi will campaign against the current PM in a similar way thus advising PM Imran Khan to ask ISI to tape the phone calls of Qureshi.

Foreign Minister hits back:

In a series of never ending battle of words that ensued after the allegations, Shah Mehmood Qureshi snapped head on to Bilawal Bhutto. The foreign minister said that he knew Bilawal Bhutto since Bilawal was a child and warned sneeringly that he has closely watched Bilawal and his father, Asif Ali Zardari.

He added that the PPP leaders should stop coming to the national assembly with written scripts. He further stated that Bilawal Bhutto says everything as he is dictated, adding that Bilawal Bhutto is politically immature and has to go a long way to go. With this midcrop, the foreign minister said that he does not want to answer Bilawal Bhutto further. Foreign Minister had also warned the opposition not to create chaos during the speech of Prime Minister Imran Khan today in the assembly. He added that the ruling party would also not let opposition leaders, Bilawal Bhutto, and Shahbaz Sharif do their speeches if they did not let PM Imran Khan speak.

The spat continues:

After what seemed to be a very chaotic session, Qureshi fleeted to Twitter to criticize Bhutto for his remark despite being a “preacher of democratic norms and traditions”.

Clearly not letting it end, the PPP leader okay-boomered Foreign minister saying that the statement was intended as a joke and in doing so, fired a shot at the foreign minister as well.
