What happened: On the 22nd of December, International Cricket Council revealed its latest T20I batter ranking and the Pakistani skipper @babrazam regained the top spot. Last week, David Malan had taken over Babar’s position as the top T20I batter but before the year ends Babar Azam surged to the top. ICC said in their statement regarding Babar Azam, “He came roaring back and is now tied at the top of the rankings with Dawid Malan after a brilliant 79 in the final T20I that helped Pakistan complete a clean sweep over West Indies.”
Details: At the same time, Muhammad Rizwan(@mrizwanpak) ends the year by getting into the top three of the latest ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings. Rizwan now has his career-best ICC rating of 798, and the ICC said, “Rizwan was the Player of the Match in the final T20I against West Indies, helping his side chase 208 in less than 19 overs with a brilliant 45-ball 87.” On the other hand, Babar Azam now ranks No.1 in both ODI and T20I rankings as the year comes to an end. The Babar-Rizwan duo made 1380 runs in 2021 with an average partnership of 57.50.
