The attack happened early in the morning in the Alishin district near the eastern Laghman province. This attack in Laghman follows a helicopter crash in the northern Balkh province a day ago, that killed at least seven Afghan military personnel.
“Three people including two security forces were killed and 27 were wounded,” said Interior Ministry Spokesman Nasrat Rahimi.
“I was in class with my friends reciting the Koran when we saw a red truck rushing toward us. For a moment everything went dark, and when I woke up I found myself in the hospital,” told Ezatullah, a 10 year old boy, to a private news source.
The Taliban took responsibility for the attack later in a statement given to the media, claiming the bomb had killed dozens of Afghan security forces; however, only six police officers were reported to be wounded and two died.
Afghanistan is currently waiting for results of the first round of elections.
