As inflation increases, Karachi faces an alarming rise in street crime rate

What happened:  As the country is facing a sudden increase in the inflation rate, the crime rate, especially in Karachi, has risen to an alarming rate. During the period of January to June 2022, Karachi alone reported 35,000 snatching incidents, as 34 citizens were reported dead due to the incidents.  Details:  While quoting sources, Dialogue Pakistan’s report highlighted,  “34 citizens have been killed and 165 injured during the robbery resistance.”  Along with street crimes, 183 incidents of house robberies were reported in Karachi houses,  “424 incidents have been reported in factories, offices and shops. The number of reported incidents of street crimes is 2043.”  Mobile phone snatching has also been seen in Karachi as more than 10,000 residents reported such incidents.
