What Happened : Mass conversion of Hindus has been reported from Malti area in Sindh where around 60 Hindus were made to recite Kalimas under the former municipal chairperson of Malti area in Sindh Abdul Rauf Nizamani. Details : The converts, including 23 women, all belong to the Bheel community and had been working on the agricultural lands of the former Matli municipal committee chairperson Abdul Rauf Nizamani for years. In a Facebook post, Nizamani said, “Today, 60 people accepted Islam under my watch. Please pray for them.” He invited the converts to do so reportedly in exchange for protection and economic support.
Hindus account for 4.5 million, or more than 2 per cent of Pakistan’s population with most of them living in Sindh. Every year thousands of cases of forced conversion and abduction are reported. In March, a 13-year-old Hindu girl Kavita Oad from Kandhkot area in Sindh was abducted and then forcibly converted to Islam. In April Arti Kumari was abducted in Larkana and forcibly converted. Such acts against minorities only reflect the systematic failure of a country. Despite the coverage of the occurrences, our judicial system and police have largely failed to take charge and set an example to alleviate the issue. For more visit Propergaanda.
