What happened: DailySabah on February 10 reported that a mosque in Germany was attacked and vandalized by unknown attackers as they painted the shape of a swastika on its door. The mosque was under the Turkish community of Germany. The representative from the Turkish-Islamic Union for Religious Affairs, Turgut Ulker, is quoted by Daily Sabah, “Similar attacks on mosques in Dortmund were carried out last month..”
Details: At the same time, Turgut Ulker added, “We demand that the authorities take urgent action and protect our places of worship.” It is pertinent to mention that reports suggest increased racism in Germany especially anti-Muslim hate crimes in recent years. Subsequently, the Turkish President had urged the German decision-makers to take notice of such incidents.
More: However, the Turkish-Islamic Union’s representative said in his interview with DailySabah, “We will continue our fight against racism in Dortmund together with all democratic institutions. We will continue to do our best to ensure that Dortmund remains a city of tolerance.”
